Resistance

If we ever feel really defensive regarding a situation or idea, it probably means that there is some truth in it for us that we haven't yet come to terms with. Or if we find ourselves really hating or resisting something, perhaps that is because it hits too close to home for us, but that hasn't yet reached our level of awareness.

But that's okay. It's an opportunity for discovery and growth.

Solitude

I would much rather be physically alone than feel lonely in the presence of someone else.

Personal evolution

To find my mind, I had to lose my sanity.

The Bigger Person

There's one thing I've noticed recently: It's often the people who frequently criticize and "dish it out" who can't "take it" in return. So if you feel 1) that you didn't stick up for yourself enough regarding a petty issue, or 2) were not quick-witted enough in an interaction in which you were somehow invalidated, or 3) you are teased more than you tease others, perhaps there are also some other ways of explaining your reactions:

You are considerate of people's feelings.
You think a few steps ahead rather than saying the first thing that comes to mind.
You listen more than you talk.
You are secure enough in your decisions or beliefs such that you did not feel the need to defend them.
You were the bigger person.
